Retention & Recruitment of the Economic Development
Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri.
The EDC - KC has undergone a complete reorganization in
conjunction with an aggressive strategic plan which has created
this new position.
Kansas
City, Missouri is undergoing a remarkable economic development
renaissance. Over
$3 billion in new construction is completed and underway in
downtown alone and new development opportunities abound in this
325 square mile city of 450,000 with a metropolitan area
population of 2 million.
The
Vice President of Business Retention & Recruitment will
provide overall management of staff and programs, market the
city to local/national/international companies, structure and
negotiate incentive packages for business prospects, identify
and evaluate business climate issues, and cooperate with local
and county economic development agencies to ensure project
success. This
position reports directly to the President/CEO.
The
qualified candidate must have a thorough understanding of
economic development tools and techniques applicable to business
retention and recruitment. Successful applicants must possess a
minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible experience in
economic development or a closely related field and 2 years of
management experience of a professional/technical staff. A
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, real
estate development, planning or marketing is required.
A Master’s degree and economic development specific
training/accreditation is preferred.
Kansas City, Missouri residency or a willingness to
relocate is required. Competitive
