General Function:
|
Responsible for developing and
maintaining a world class research and analysis function
that can prepare comprehensive data and information
necessary to support the business recruitment and existing
business programs of the Economic Development Division.
|
Specific
Duties:
1.
Prepare research, analysis and content for consultant or
client driven requests for information and
proposals within specified time requirements.
2.
Maintain and develop files of economic and demographic
facts for ready access in responding to prospect inquiries and
for other needs of the Economic Development Division.
3.
Conduct research on specific prospects and target
employers using on-line and published sources.
4.
Maintain and update portions of the Economic Development
website to provide prospects, Network members and other RCGA
constituents with on-line access to demographic and economic
information.
5.
Maintain and update collateral materials, publications,
directories and other information to respond quickly to internal
and external inquiries.
6.
Provide information for rankings by national sources such
as Fortune magazine and manage the ACCRA Cost of Living index data
collection process.
7.
Assists business development staff in preparing project
specific proposals.
8.
Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position
Requirements:
Education
|
Bachelor’s
Degree in Economics, Urban Planning, Library Science,
Business Administration or related field required.
An advanced degree would be viewed positively but
is not a requirement.

|
|
|
Experience
|
Two
to three years specific experience in a research position
required. Previous
experience in a chamber of commerce, economic development
organization or similar civic or nonprofit organization is
helpful.
|
|
|
|
|
Skills
|
Must
have strong oral and written communication skills,
including the ability to interact with senior executives
and the public. A
solid grasp of economics, demographics, quantitative
methods and research methodologies is essential.
Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Office or
similar environment and proficiency with statistical,
spreadsheet, database, and communications software,
including methods of conducting online searches are
required. Specific
computer skills related to desktop publishing or GIS would
be helpful.

|
This
position requires discretion regarding confidential
information, the ability to translate technical
information into useful forms, and the ability to measure
activities and decisions against the long-term goals of
the RCGA.
