CITY OF INDEPENDENCE

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

The City of Independence, Missouri, population 114,000, is a major suburban community in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The City is seeking an Economic Development Manager with the Community Development Department. This person will prepare and manage major economic development activities,  special projects and implementation plans in the Community Development Department as well as oversee strategies to enhance the economic development and revitalization of established commercial and industrial areas in the City. Responsibilities also include preparation of economic development analyses and assisting various City boards and commissions.

Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, economics or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Prefer five years of progressive professional economic development experience. Certification for American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) preferred.
