Job Description:

The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce and Poplar Bluff Industries, Inc., located in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Executive Vice President.  The Executive Vice President reports directly to the Board of Directors and serves as the chief executive and administrative officer of both organizations.  The Executive Vice President is responsible for the efficient and effective execution of activities in the following essential areas:  business attraction and retention; coordination of the three year plan; budgeting and fundraising; maintenance of membership; staff issues; organizational structure and operating procedures; interpretation of policy; facility maintenance; long-range planning and other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Board.

            The candidate chosen will frequently and regularly interact with local existing business and industry representatives; prospective new business and industry representatives; board members; community leaders; local and state political leaders; staff members; local citizens; media; and other individuals and groups as required.

            The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of experience.  A working knowledge of chamber of commerce and economic development functions.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as are attention to details, a cooperative attitude, work accuracy and organizational skills.
