Cheri Tune Is 2015 MEDC Governmental Member of the Year



Lake Ozark, MO (June 10, 2015) – Cheri Tune, Workforce Coordinator, Missouri Division of Workforce Development  has been named by the Missouri Economic Development Council (MEDC) as the 2015 Governmental Member of the Year. This prestigious award is presented to an MEDC member who has made significant contributions in the field of community-based economic development and who is employed by a unit of government but who is not a community based economic developer.  Tune was recognized at the MEDC Annual Conference on June 10th at the Lake of the Ozarks.

“Cheri is deserving of this recognition due to many reasons.  In my opinion, she exemplifies how the DWD workforce coordinators can be a pivotal asset in connecting employers across the state to the ecosystem of workforce development resources.”  Said Jessica L. Craig, MEDC Secretary, and Director, The LearningForce, State Fair Community College.

“Cheri is an advocate for employers as well as a conduit for information to the state level,” said Nancy Montgomery, Human Resources Director, Tacony Manufacturing in Saint James, Missouri.  “For the past eight years Cheri has assisted with the Meramec Regional Job Fair which has proven to be the premier venue for employers and employees to meet.  Literally hundreds of prospective employees have had an opportunity to meet local employer thanks to Cheri’s dedication.”

Cheri Tune has recently been named the Director of the Certified Work Ready Communities Program, at the Missouri Department of Economic Development and will begin that role July 1st.
